Many thanks to Lisa Wood who introduced us to Chatta , which is a lovely tool to get language learners talking and listening with an easy to use tool. All you do is add images, you can add up to 6 on a "chatta board" and then add a voice recording to each image to model language. Learners can also make their own chats (Chatta boards). ‘We are storytelling creatures, and as children we acquire language to tell those stories that we have inside us’ Jereme Bruner Chatta’s simple story-based approach uses software that links sequences of images to voice recordings, enhancing memory and understanding. Students have powerful language models to listen to, scaffolding learning and enabling them to build, organise and use language to communicate effectively. Chatta has been voted one of the top 100 inspiring and innovative teaching solutions by Finnish education charity HundrED. It opens up exciting new possibilities for learners of all ages and at all levels, giving them the skills they need to tell the stories they have inside of them. (Lisa Wood) An English teacher and Neurolanguage Coach®, is especially interested in teaching brain-friendly strategies to help students become effective, autonomous, lifelong learners. She loves exploring and using new technologies to accelerate this process. When she is not working, you’ll most likely find her reading, learning Swedish, drinking tea or doing yoga. Here is the recording of her 15min presentation.
